The golf tournaments of all golf tournaments is officially upon us, The Masters. This tournament is unlike any other, the course is always immaculate, it always produces stunning azaleas and dogwoods, the infamous green jacket, and let’s not forget the cheapest concessions food at any major sporting event. The event is held at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia on April 10 through April 13, 2025. Personally, this is one of my favorite golf tournaments of the year (along with a lot of other golf fans) where the best of the best square off to win the coveted green jacket. 

Going back to when I was a young kid, the Masters was the one golf tournament my dad would want to watch. Our family was a baseball family so golf was hardly on our tv and I never did go play golf until I was out of high school. The main reason being playing golf can really mess up your baseball swing so I chose not to play. However, when the Masters came on you could find us in the living room watching the golf greats battle it out in Augusta. Now that I am not playing baseball anymore and as most 30 year old dads I have started to pick up the game of golf and have gotten into following the sport year by year. With that being said let’s do a little preview and predictions for the 2025 Masters!

This first major is here and I think this will be one of the best years to watch The Masters. You have the big names of the PGA like Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Colin Morikawa, and many more. We will also get the biggest names from the LIV tour including Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Cameron Smith, Jon Rahm, and Phil Mickelson to name a few. Definitely a star studded lineup fixing to tee off at Augusta National starting Thursday, April 10th. The early betting favorite for right now is of course Scottie Scheffler at +400, so far is season isn’t taking shape like in previous years but could definitely change if he can win another green jacket. The remaining favorites include: Rory McIlroy (+650), Jon Rahm (+1300), Colin Morikawa (+1800), Xander Schauffele (+1800), Bryson DeChambeau (+1800), Ludvig Aberg (+2200), and Justin Thomas (+2500) rounding out this years early betting favorites. This tournament can really challenge the best golfers in the world and I would expect nothing least this year. This course has many feature holes including: Tea Olive (Hole 1), Magnolia (Hole 5), Juniper (Hole 6), Amen Corner (Hole 12), Azalea (Hole 13), Redbud (Hole 16), Nandina (Hole 17, and finally Holly (Hole 18) as you can see most of the holes are premier/feature holes I would say the most famous of these would be Amen Corner which features holes 11,12, and 13 however hole 12 is one of the most iconic par 3 in golf (If not the most iconic). 

Ok, I know time for me to end this article and pick my winner. I will start with my LIV pick and that has to be Bryson DeChambeau. DeChambeau is on top of the golf world right now with being one of the best of the LIV tour (if not the best), his YouTube channel really took off gaining popularity with both on and off the course life, and coming off one of his better years in his career last year. However now it’s time for the real pick to win this year’s tournament. Personally I have said this probably for the past three years but I really believe Rory McIlroy will be putting on the green jacket for the first time and winning the 2025 Masters. I feel it is his time, each year the Masters seems to fit his game the most of the four golf majors. He has said before coming into this year’s tournament that it he “Has never been in better form before the Masters.” In conclusion, I am riding with Rory McIlroy until the fucking wheels fall off and I cannot wait to see him put the green jacket on and win The 2025 Masters!
